{79/365} Updates and March Madness…

So at our house it is all basketball all the time…it is hard to say no when Little Man LOVES to watch basketball ~ any sport really! So today I was watching at Kansas got knocked off their high horse. I say that with love ~ because really no one should HAVE to lose, but these guys thought they had it in the bag and they get knocked off by a 9 seed. Aaron says that Bill Self just chocked but I don’t know karma has a wonderful way of biting one in the b*tt! Sorry to those of you whose brackets are now broken beyond repair.

Some cute things that the kids have been doing lately:

(1) “More peese” complete with the signs for more and please! Little Man started this one. He always wanted more to eat but was not asking for it just throwing a fit so we started to tell him with words AND the signs to ask for “more please.” At first it was very hit and miss but now we get “more peese” for everything….everything. The bonus is Little Princess gets it 100% and when she wants more of something does exactly what we showed Little Man and like him is so cute when she says it!

(2) They finally get that hot means you have to cool it down somehow…so they blow on anything that they think was even once hot. Food, the oven, any thing that they have been told “no no that is hot, don’t touch.” And they blow hard too! That is where Little Man got the great blow to help his dad blow out birthday candles!

(3) Little Princess has known what “NO” means for a very long time. She finally gets the head shake with the word “No” and now thinks it is VERY funny to tell me “no” many times a day and if I say “yes” she says “no” as if it is some sort of game! It is funny and so hard not to laugh ~ because usually this little exchange takes place when I say something like “It is time to go to bed.” So mama is working on being serious around her and laughing later!

(4) Little Princess can count to five out loud as well as with her fingers! That is mama taught…she insisted on learning the finger part (home schooling this one is going to be a challenge and a joy let me tell you). But while she does the counting Little Man is obsessed with the alphabet ~ as in he wants you to sing it over and over but when you are done he will give you a round of applause and usually conduct you as you sing it (I think he does that so daddy will some how sound better ~ as he always gives daddy a funny look when he is singing!) He knows MANY of the letters and can even recognize a few of them but cannot get more than a,b,c in order on a regular basis!

(5) And my FAVORITE ~ I am FINALLY mama, mommy or mom! They will say that when they look at pictures of me, say it to get my attention, etc… it took forever but it is music to my ears!

And the loves of my life watching march madness together:

Daddy’s attempt at a good picture of the three of them (daddy really has to be caught off guard):

{58/365} Budding Artists

Today I brought downstairs the double art easel, some white paper and the crayons. I didn’t think they would care as the only place that they use crayons is at restaurants (and probably just then because we eat out so little so it is like something that is a little new and different). I was wrong ~ they LOVE this easel and they love to color with it! We have so many original pieces of art work now that I am out of places to hang them!

{18/365} “What is that?”

Someone – anyone – remind me that I wanted Little Man and Little Princess to talk so badly that they had a speech therapist for a year before they were released (because they were ready…) because if I hear the words “What is that?” again I may just have to scream. Little Man points to everything and I mean everything and asks “what is that” even if he knows full well what it is. Those are pretty much his only words (he also says “ot-oh” and “whoo whoo”) that you can for sure tell what he is saying (he “talks” to his sister ALL the time but we have not a clue what they are saying). So I thought for ONE minute you could all hear what I heard all day — I recorded it at night so if I sound not as happy as I should when I answer I had been answering since 9 am almost:

Little Princess has a TON of words but you will not get to hear them unless (1) she knows you very well or (2) you hang out with her for enough time that she gets comfortable with you and then you can hear them! I will try to get some of them on video. Yeah and it was JUST me as Aaron is on mandatory over time for the next two months on Mondays…so yeah if you are local and want to come and play on Monday nights I am all for the help! So we ha finished dinner and I called Aaron to let him talk to the kids for a minute or two and while they were talking on the phone Little Man started giving Little Princess kisses, which I could not get on camera but later when I asked them to give kisses this is what happened:

In case you could not see – Little Princess moved in to give Little Man a kiss and he pushed her away! Too Cute! And I didn’t just record video with the camera today – I took a few pictures as well:

{5/365} Moving on Up…

Today is one of those days…a day where I love it and hate it at the same time. I have been waiting for the day when I can understand more clearly what Little Man and Little Princess are saying. For the most part I am there BUT what I didn’t realize was that with this stage comes two things (1) the child wanting to be more independent and (2) all of the imitation.

So as you can guess #1 is what made me hate today. We must eat on our own and play on our own and if either does not get his/her own way then a MASSIVE fit happens. I think zero time outs happened today as I was able to defuse on my own but I did threaten a few times. But one good thing about this part is they started upstairs for nap time on their own today. They were almost half way up the stairs before I realized they were on their way up for their naps!

But #2 is the funniest thing ever! Some examples — Little Man will walk down the steps on his own while holding my hand but when he does he must stomp 3 times on each step before going to the next one! If someone says something, he will start babbling back usually but sometimes he will imitate exactly what you are doing. Tonight at dinner he was imitating his dad and I started laughing really hard… he then started pretending to laugh really hard like me. I literally could not stop laughing! And Little Princess is notorious for putting her hand on mine to do EXACTLY what I am doing or taking my hand to have me show her how to do things. And the words – oh my gosh, they imitate every one they can…it is so funny to hear them for the first time.  Oh yeah and the conversations between them have become 200 times more animated. Oh yes and now every time Little Man gets his hands on a camera he sits on the floor and says “cheese” — maybe the paparazzi better known as mama should let up a little!  Also, today Little Man decided he wanted to play Tiger on the Wii and he turned on the Wii and the TV and came an got me to show me that he could not see Tiger…seriously?

So the pictures from today.. before I post Little Princess wanted nothing to do with being in front of the camera today PERIOD so no pictures of her today and yes his shirt says “Mom’s Little Man” – his Auntie Amy got it for him last year and it finally fits right:
