37 Reasons I Love My Husband…

My husband turns 37 today and well I thought it only fitting to do a 37 reasons I Love My Husband…
1. When I climb into bed next to him the first thing he does is cuddle up with me and hold my hand – we have to touch some how to sleep (this was difficult when Little Man and Little Princess slept with us)
2. If there is something that I truly want then he tries to find a way for me to have it – this has been hard for him lately as he knows that we cannot afford to just buy what I would love to have for my camera and my sewing machine (so you know I do everything in my power to reciprocate)
3. He loves Little Man, Little Princess and me unconditionally
4. He LOVES numbers and loves to help people figure out how they work – he would be teaching Little Man and Little Princess math now if he really thought they would get it (which is good I HATE math…period…)
5. When I get excited about something he does as well – he loves to see the pictures I take and the creations that I craft
6. He closes his eyes in all his pictures – even if there is NO flash
7. He thinks our dogs are human – and treats them as such (he did this with all our pets)
8. He LOVES sports – specifically football, college basketball and golf but really any sport will do; he likes to play as well as watch (I so cannot wait to see him coach Little Man and Little Princess’ sports teams….)
9. He dances with Little Princess all the time – to many songs but one of them is always Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman
10. Even though I now stay at home – he still helps with the dishes, laundry, cooking and cleaning
11. He loves his family – parents, siblings (and their spouses), nieces, nephews, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.. – dearly and would not trade them for anything even though he almost never talks to many of them without hearing from them first
12. He not only gives me time without Little Man and Little Princess – he demands that I have that time knowing that I am a better mom (and wife) with a few hours to myself every week
13. He knows how much I LOVE music and he didn’t when we met – but now he is the one to start the music before me, I am loving learning his favorites (amazingly at the top of that list is anything adoption related by Steven Curtis Chapman – that is what he always plays first!)
14. He would help anyone who asks – and I mean anyone no questions
15. Even though we do not see eye to eye on politics – he is passionate about his political beliefs and will defend them always
16. He loves horror movies (and tries every year to get me to watch them without covering my eyes or screaming bloody murder)
17. He cannot sing, he knows it and jokes about it BUT sometimes when he sings and thinks no one can hear him he actually sounds pretty good
18. He is not a handy man – at all BUT oh how he is willing to learn if someone shows him just that person has to be very patient and NOT me
19. He irons – and does it well
20. He loves a good joke and a good laugh – we have so many inside jokes I felt bad for my cousin when she stayed with us
21. He genuinely wants to move to a place with no winter not just because I hate winter but because he does too
22. It was HIS idea to get married in Hawaii – I just wanted water (a beach really)
23. He loves to travel – it took him some time to warm up to this but every year we seem to take a trip somewhere (It has been fun watching him plan Little Man and Little Princess’ first trip as a vacation in June…even if it is just to St. Louis, which is like a second home to me!)
24. While he is a VERY loyal University of Illinois Alum – he insists that Little Man and Little Princess be raised that they can go anywhere EVEN a rival Big Ten school or my alma mater – Monmouth College (personally I kind of hope they go to his alma mater – but they can go anywhere they want and be anything they want)
25. He cannot sort laundry – if I didn’t know better I would think he was completely color blind BUT he will do the rest of it if I just sort it
26. He almost NEVER complains – I would say NEVER but there is that one last actuarial exam that he does complain about
27. He has worked at the same job for almost 15 years – yep same company, same job same everything
28. He tries to do everything he can to be here for me when I need him – that cannot always be easy
29. He lets me sleep in on Saturdays when we do not have plans
30. He has weird eating habits – different from mine in most ways but neither of us eat red sauce on anything but pizza and we both are not fond of chocolate
31. He does almost all of our grocery shopping – I hate grocery shopping
32. He LOVES to learn – he is going to let me teach him to sew (his idea) and take pictures – not sure I can teach that but I will try
33. He only yells at bad sports calls on TV and then only when it involves his beloved Fighting Illini – then he will yell and stomp and scream (if you would like an example ask my mom about the NCAA Tournament Arizona/Illinois game in 2005) – but that is the only time I have ever heard him raise his voice
34. He is always proud of my accomplishments and supports me in whatever I want to do next – even if it is something that requires more school (I will never forget when I asked him if I could go back and get a masters degree – he just looked at me and said OK in what…I said I don’t know I just want to go back to school, he laughed and said ok but before I go back why don’t we decide in what…we have since decided that I may not need to go back to school I just need to decide what I want to do and do it!)
35. He is always willing to talk through some of my absolutely crazy ideas with me – and I have had some crazy ideas, he never puts me down just asks questions and lets me decide what is best
36. He still carries around a letter I wrote him when we dating about how much I love him and appreciate all he does for me
37. He is absolutely amazing and while not perfect at all – God made for him just for me and I love him more than anything
